Percy Weasley
Who is this guy?
Percy Weasley is a character from Harry Potter. He's one of Ron Weasleys brothers and is the third eldest between Charlie and the Twins. His most notable action is leaving his family during the fifth book to join the ministry. But he returns to them in the end. He's described as "prissy" and "stuffy" and an overall huge asshole/nerd.

Why... this guy?
My honest answer, I have no fucking idea. He has, I think, a total of less than ten lines? I don't even remember why I liked him, I don't even think I did when I first read the books in elementry school??

I don't remember when I first started liking him so much, but I know that its been a long time. I don't even like Harry Potter anymore, I hate really JK Shitbag and hate almost all of the story choices, the only times I touch it with a ten foot pole are when I decide to rewrite the story every year or so.

But THIS guy? Oh, he's stuck with me all this time. There's been gaps where I don't thinka about him much but he always comes around and infects my mind once or twice a year. It's a curse at this point.

No, really... WHY this guy???
I've come to the conclusion that the reason he's the one character that's stuck with me so long is because he has a lot of what I like in a character. There's a lot of other characters that are very similar to him that I've liked over the years.

First of all, he's an asshole nerd. I love asshole nerd tropes in media! Not even particuallarly nerdy characters, just characters that are intellegent or are otherwise pretty knowledgable. And any asshole characters are the ones I like.

And asshole nerd, is what Percy Weasley is. It's literally his only descriptor throughout the books.

Next, the familial angst. This is probably my most obsessed about aspect of him. I know there are a lot of people that demonize the other Weasleys in Percy-centric stuff. Like, they make them super mean and abusive towards him. And, I do NOT subscribe to this interpretation at ALL.

BUT, I do subscribe to the idea of him being, or at least feeling, neglected by his family. I feel like it's a pretty realistic thing since his family is so big and his other siblings tend to be loud or trouble-makers that require more attention. I can also imagine him feeling left-out or like an outside because of how different his intrests are to the rest of his family (he likes reading and staying outside but his family is really into sports) plus I totally belive that Mrs. Weasley has some favoritism problems.

I think he didn't have the best home life, but his family aren't evil. His parents and siblings definetly love him and care about him, but he didn't feel loved by them. Y'know?
